Our Story: Ethical Handcrafted Jewellery from Tasmania

When Mark and I arrived in Tasmania twenty-four years ago with our four-year-old son, we had no idea where life would take us.

We simply settled into the familiar rhythm of our lives from Perth, easing into what I now see as our "settling in" phase.

Then, a visit to a stunning house and garden in Oatlands reignited my creative spark. Inspired by the beauty of sandstone, I felt an irresistible pull to create—and just like that, Signature Studios was born. For years, I poured my passion into sculpting and selling my sandstone pieces, all while designing and building five homes (nine structures, if you count the outbuildings!).

Seeing imagination take shape in the real world? There’s truly nothing like it.

Fast forward to today—Mark, our now twenty-eight-year-old son, and I have just completed our sixth home.

While sandstone sculpting is part of my past, creativity still calls to me. That’s when I found myself in the most wonderful role—working as a studio hand in a local jeweller’s workshop.

And then, something magical happened.

Silversmithing captivated us both, forging a new passion that took hold and never let go. Encouraged by the respect and support of my workplace, I began dreaming of something of my own. That dream is now a reality—Silver Dollar Company.

We’re beyond thrilled to share our journey and our craft with you. Because in the end, it’s in the sharing—of the things we love, of the work we’ve poured our hearts into—that we find true fulfilment.
